10:30 – ASHRAE Member grade and Benefit Changes being voted on – Rex Camit, WV Chapter Membership Chair

11:00 – ASHRAE Updates Air Cleaning Standards – Arthur d. Hallstrom, P.E. ASHRAE Fellow.

Objective: ASHRAE Indoor Air Quality Research is creating better IAQ thru improved Standards. This presentation will be a very important update to WV on Air Cleaning. The topics include:

  • ASHRAE’s Big Four IAQ  Standards
  • A Low Pressure Drop MERV 13 option
  • How Passive and Active Air Cleaner are performance tested
  • Location, Location – Its important
  • Major Changes in the new ASHRAE 62.1-2025

Active air cleaning can be more effective and uses less energy than increased ventilation if properly selected and applied. Learn about the different air cleaning families and how they are tested using ASHRAE and AHAM Standards. Learn how products can be applied using ASHRAE 241 for maximum effectiveness.

Presenter: Arthur D. Hallstrom. P.E. ASHRAE Fellow. Vice Chair of ASHRAE Standard 234. Mr Hallstrom has over 40 years experience as Air Side Applications for a major Air Conditioning Manufacturer. He has been involved with reactive and passive air cleaning for a wide variety of applications like airports, schools, labs, casinos, etc. He is currently the editor for the ASHRAE Terminology Online Glossary.

12:00 Lunch – Installstion of 2026-27 Board, officers and Committee Chairs. Recognition for outgoing leaders.

A Technical Intensive look at 90.1 with McHenry “Mack” Wallace, Jr., PE, CVS, Fellow ASHRAE

Understand how to Navigate the Complexity of Modern Energy Standards

Will Cover the evolution of ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1 from 2016, 2019, 2022, through the latest requirements of 2025. In this session, Mack Wallace will provide an “insider’s look” at the 90.1 committee’s decision-making process and how these standards translate into practical, defensible designs for commercial and public facilities.

Technical Session Breakdown:

Deciphering 90.1 Addenda: A retrospective and forward-looking analysis of the most impactful changes to the National Energy Code from a 27-year standing committee member. Presentation will introduce you to the major changes in all the 90.1 additions since 2016 – including the not yet published changes to the 2025 standard. Discussion of the changing playing field: How the federal government’s change in goals has changed the plans for 90.1

About the speaker: McHenry “Mack” Wallace, Jr. is the Federal Technical Director of Mechanical Design for Jacobs. An ASHRAE Fellow, Mack has served on the SSPC 90.1 committee for nearly three decades and has personally trained over 1,000 professionals on 90.1 through the ASHRAE Learning Institute. He is the patent holder of the WiseWatt energy management system and a recipient of the 2025 Jacobs Beyond Excellence Leadership Award. Mack’s unique dual-certification as a PE and Certified Value Specialist (CVS) allows him to bridge the gap between rigorous engineering design and systematic value methodology.
