| West Virginia Office of Energy ✨Project Spotlight: Regional Intergovernmental Council (RIC)✨ We’re continuing our series highlighting community projects supported through the West Virginia Office of Energy’s #EnergyEfficiency & Conservation Block Grant (#EECBG) Program, showcasing how these investments are strengthening communities and improving energy efficiency across the state. This week, we’re sharing our trip to the Regional Intergovernmental Council, a long-standing organization serving Boone, Clay, Kanawha, and Putnam counties. Established in 1968, the RIC was the first regional planning and development council in West Virginia, created to address regional challenges and promote intergovernmental cooperation. Through EECBG funding, the RIC is completing key energy upgrades at its office, including: • replacing a 20+ year-old HVAC unit with a higher-efficiency system that has programmable thermostats • replacing older windows with energy-efficient vinyl windows These improvements will help reduce energy use, improve building performance, and support more efficient operations, allowing the RIC to continue focusing on regional planning and collaboration.
